Are you ready to find out what’s going to be hot for when the temperature drops?
If you’re anything like me then you’ll be itching to check out the new collections. The autumn winter pieces are flooding into the stores at the moment, but it always leaves me a little heavy-hearted seeing all the beautiful summer items jammed together on the sale rail. Too busy enjoying the summer? You need to start thinking about autumn now if you want the best pick of the autumn/winter collections. Such is the way the fashion industry works, as bonkers as it may seem. That’s why before each season really kicks off I put together a guide like this so you’re really ahead of the curve and know what to look out for in the new collections.
I’ve changed the format recently. Pinterest mood boards have replaced the seasonal blog post featuring all the key trends. I think most of my readers prefer it that way. So if you want to get straight to it, click the picture below and you’ll head over to my Pinterest page where you can find the hottest trends and accessories for autumn/winter 2013.
I’ve also decided to run through five key trends that I personally think will be big this autumn/winter.
Pink is THE colour for autumn/winter 2013, I walked past Topshop today and already the mannequins were dripping from head to toe in dusty rose hues. It looks great paired with black and grey to give your winter wardrobe an extra soft feminine touch. The shades tend to be rosy, dusty and soft as opposed to the loud or shocking pinks you’d associate with summer.
Checks are making a comeback and I’ve spied plenty on the high street already. Houndstooth, plaid, tartans in a variety of colours were all strong looks on the catwalk. It’s quite an easy print to work into your wardrobe, which is why I think you won’t be pushed hard to find pieces in these prints. I particularly like this modern update by Gucci as opposed to the more traditional houndstooth found on the catwalk at Lanvin.
Knee-length and calf skimming numbers are the stars of this season, with the skirt firmly being in the spotlight. My personal favourite is the full and flared variety. Retro glamour at it’s finest.
The ear cuff is definitely my favourite pick. Found at the likes of Dries and Chloe this season they’re already available on the high street and are certainly a bold accessory. I expect fashionistas to really go to town with this trend.
If in Doubt
Go with fur. Fur bags, fur on shoes, techno patterned fur coats, bold-coloured fur, fur scarfs, fur as daywear, fur trims, even fur on glasses. If you want to look like you’re in the know this season, pick almost anything with fur on.
Finally if you want to know what trends you can expect to find now on the high street, I’ve got you covered. Last week I published a YouTube video that you can check out here.
I love reading and replying to all my comments and will click-through to say ‘hello’ and visit you on your site. I usually end up working with those of you that do comment in some capacity, whether it be a guest post or Google hangout.
What trends are you most looking forward to?
