Street Style Icons: Odyssey Home

Post image for Street Style Icons: Odyssey Home

I first saw Stephanie’s outfit posts over on citizenrosebud and I immediately knew that I wanted her to feature on street style icons. I loved the minimalism, I loved the designers she was rocking, I loved the fact she was wearing designer pieces after a run of street style icons championing the high street. Her look also reminded me of a colleague I had when I worked at Harvey Nichols, they seemed to share the same love for particular designers and shared a similar sort of style. I then visited odysseyhome and loved how minimal it was, all white, big photos and little text. She just lets the clothes do the talking. Anyway, enough of me this is what she had to say about everything style related.

What’s your name and where are you from?

Stephanie. I’m originally from the southern US.

Talk us through what you’re wearing

Rick Owens Lilies wool blend turtleneck and draped skirt. Maison Martin Margiela tabi boots and silver rings.

How would you describe your style?

Modern, minimal, subtly avant-garde.

High Street Honey or Designer Diva?

Neither.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

Everywhere and nowhere. Places I’ve lived. Architecture. Art. People I admire. Life.

What makes your style your own, what’s your signature look?

Black. Layers. Draped fabrics. No frills. Unusual proportions.

What one piece are you coveting at the moment?

A pair of Rick Owens over-the-knee wedge boots..

What are the 3 most important pieces in your wardrobe?

I don’t have 3 most important pieces. How about 3 vital elements? Quality. Fluidity. Asymmetry.

What one piece of fashion advice would you give to readers?

I usually resist giving style advice but how about this: avoid wasting money on uber-trendy items. Buy quality.

Hi Arash,
Always enjoy reading your site. I do not have a style blog myself, but I follow several, and after seeing this one I would definitely recommend you cover the inspiration for “Odyssey”: The Divinitus.

This is the type of minimalism I’d aspire to – lots of attention to the actual clothes, instead of layers of accessories or flashy bits –
It’s interesting to think of wardrobes in terms of characteristics/elements instead of components.

Yeah I loved how she answered some of the questions like you said referring to her wardrobe in terms of characteristics. Thanks for commenting Devon.

Wow, she seems super cool! I definitely couldn’t pull off her look myself, but it’s very inspiring!

I am definitely fond of quality over quantity…. and I love when a woman can make black central to their wardrobe without becoming boring. Great profile!

Yeah I agree, there is so much going on in terms of the fabric and draping despite it all being the same tone.

I agree I love how the minimalism is transferred into her blog design as well, it’s just the photos, nothing else.

She is very stylish and also very kind. She always mentions unknown bloggers if she liked their style. Very supportive. Quality over quantity is a thing we all should learn. She rocks!
