A Tribute To The Hoodie

You’re probably reading this right now thinking WTF? Hoodies on a style blog? That’s right this post is about the hoodie. If you’ve ever followed me on twitter or read some of my previous posts on here you’ll know I have a funny relationship with the hoodie. I love it…. but I hate it. I mean let’s start off by saying it gets a bit of a bad rep from the media anyone wearing one is often categorised as a trouble maker or someone up to no good. Anyone who believes that has obviously just been taken in by the media scaremongering. So let me explain why I love it yet hate it so much.
The Love
The thing about hoodies are they’re like an ex partner who was just no good for you. You know you shouldn’t go back to them but once you’ve tried them you’re hooked. See, I don’t think there is anything more comfortable than a hoodie. Once you’ve slipped it on, zipped it up and flicked up the hood it’s like you’re sheltered from the world. The best thing about them is they’re great for lounging round the house but then equally as good if you’re going out. Just layer one up on top of a t shirt and beneath a jacket for a casual cool look. They’re the ultimate easy piece to take you from lounging to going out for the day, in fact they’re so easy they often become your uniform.

The Hate
They only do casual, if you want to dress up then you’re going to have to leave it behind. They’re too easy; what I mean is you end up relying on them, everything you wear is finished off with a hoody forcing you to become lazy when dressing. That casual cool look, for me only lasts so long. When you hit a certain age I feel it’s time to retire the hoody and look at other options for layering and using as top layers. They can look a bit tooo casual and they’re synonymous with yob culture, you can dress them up as much as you want but you’ll never really be super stylish in one.
That was my tribute to the hoodie.. like I said I love them but hate them at the same time, no other piece of clothing has this effect on me.

Yeah, they’re definitely too casual. I wore them everyday to class in college, but now I only sport them around the house… unless it’s a super stylish one and I’m just hangin’ with friends or something. I’ve definitely worn them in an outfit post or two, though!

bahahahahahhahaha. i completely have this relationship with hoodies. i love them/hate them. i used to rock hoodies like it was my j.o.b! but a couple of years ago i started to notice how casual and kind of young i felt they looked.
so now my hoodies are really only for the gym and for lounging around my apartment.
Yeah that’s what I’m currently feeling at the moment
