My Top Five AW2011 Trends

I know I’m late in bringing you the AW11 trends. But I don’t like to cover them while everyone else is, during the frenzy that is fashion week. I like to start discussing them when they start to appear in the stores because that’s when most people start to notice them. The sale stock will be starting to dwindle and new AW11 will be taking it’s place. So if you’re one that likes to be first with the latest looks then take inspiration from some of my favourite picks from the upcoming season.

Colour

It’s great to see that even though once summer has passed, winter won’t be all doom and gloom. The Burberry catwalk was a sea of vibrant colours.

Burberry

Dots

I loved the Stella collection this season. That’s why I’ve chosen this fantastic piece to highlight the dots trend for Autumn Winter. If you want to look definitively AW11 then go for dots.

Stella

Texture Overload

This season it’s all about textures, everything goes mix and match what ever you like!

Fendi

Androgyny

I’m a sucker for tailored pieces, so I’m loving all the masculine looks on the catwalk for AW11.

Dolce & Gabbana

Dominatrix

Take your pick, if you want to go all out take a look at Louis Vuitton or if you want a subtle nod definitely check out the Giles collection.

Giles Deacon

So there you have it my top five picks for AW11. I’ll be following this up with a full blown trend report very soon!

Let me know which are your favourite looks.

  1. Hi Arash,

As usual been liking your posts.

I have been avidly looking through all the catwalk magazines myself this season all ready to build my style book; Vogue I think is a particularly good buy this month for this. Coming back to your post you’ve picked Dominatrix as a top trend. I suspect very few people would ever dream of wearing this trend top to toe (could be wrong) – what do you think ? . Other than maybe shoes or a top I’m struggling to see how the high street will translate this trend.

    • Arash Mazinani says:

I didn’t realise the magazines had the catwalk reports in yet. Yeah you’re probably right, it’s not the easiest trend to transfer onto the high street. I could see topshop running with it for those that want to be a little bit daring.

  2. Casee Marie says:

Fantastic choices! Loving the colors, especially those vibrant oranges and reds, they’re wonderful transition colors and so appropriate for fall. The mess of textures is amazing, too – love the excess!

I’m totally with you on trends, I prefer to focus on them (as a blogger and a blog-reader) in their respective seasons. It makes a little more sense, to me, to talk about them around the time you’ll actually be wearing them. I love following Fashion Week but afterwards I pretty much forget about everything I saw until the next season comes around. Then it all comes back to me and it’s a pretty great reminder!

    • Arash Mazinani says:

Yeah it goes crazy on twitter etc I like to wait until the dust has settled rather than trying to figure out what’s going to be big while the shows are going on. There is simply too much to take in.

  3. I’m feeling the color trend too…and the dominatrix trend? Always.

  4. Niki Whittle says:

My favourite has to be the dominatrix trend! Love the colours coming through too, but black’s my forever favourite. Hobbs NW3 have an awesome black leather A-line shift dress coming in for aw2011… hope I don’t have to wait to long.

    • Arash Mazinani says:

Yeah it’s awesome! Yeah I think it’s nice to have the option of colour, especially in winter.

  5. That orange coat makes me happy. and I’m glad that you showcased the dots trend, as I fancy that entirely in my wardrobe, however that D&G androgynous look is absolutely my favourite. Have a great week! xo

  6. Katy says:

Personally, I’m loving the color explosion as well as the dots. To me color just feels youthful and alive. And the dots are a nice break from the stripes we’ve seen these last couple years. – Katy

    • Arash Mazinani says:

Yeah very true. I love colour too, especially as when it comes to winter a lot of people often turn to darker tones. Now they have no excuses!

  7. Jamillah says:

Oh I love that color is not leaving us too!!! That Burberry coat is totally flawless. And I really always like a little leather…domanatrix, yes please!

  8. Color and dominatrix don’t necessarily go together, but I am loving both of those trends! I have to admit the dots trend wouldn’t normally pique my interest but I really love the image you chose. That is very striking!
