Friend Friday: Sharing the Love; FBFF Blog Awards
February 25, 2011 by Arash Mazinani

Continuing on the theme of awards, this week’s Friend Friday requires each participating blogger to nominate a fellow blogger for a number of categories. It’s a great way for us to highlight some bloggers that we enjoy and for our readers to also find out about new blogs. The great thing is entries for each category don’t have to be part of the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday scheme so it means the possibilities are endless. I hope anyone reading my nominations recognises how great these blogs are but also realises that they’re just regular bloggers as well. None of them are superstars or have millions of followers they just enjoy what they do and end up with some quality content for their readers to enjoy.
So I’ll get on with my nominations…
Creative Juices – Most Creative
I was unsure about how to interpret the ‘most creative’ category mainly because I was unsure whether or not it referred to outfit posters. However, I looked at it in terms of who brought regular thought provoking content and when I think of that I instantly think of fashionlimbo.
The Real Deal – Authenticity
This was a hard one as you’d expect every blogger to be authentic and honest when writing their content. However, for this category I’m going to nominate the house in the clouds. Mainly because I’ve been receiving quite a bit of love from her at the moment ha ha and I just get that vibe that she’s quite a real person. It’s hard to explain, it’s like a gut feeling so I’m going to go with it.
Spark Notes – Most Helpful
I think for me there is only one person and that’s V from grit and glamour. She regularly laces her blog with features on how to improve your blog. She provides links to sites and tools that can help you with your general day to day running of your blog. She even has a list of plugins she uses on her blog which is something really simple but it’s comes back to that ethos of her wanting to help those that visit her blog. I’ve also seen her helping people out on twitter on numerous occasions.
Newbie – Best Blogger Less Than a Year Old
One blog came to mind straight away but I did have to check to see if she had been blogging for less than a year, ha ha. That was The Loudmouth; similar to fashionlimbo the content I that I’ve found at The Loudmouth is usually of a high standard but I also really seem to feel her personality in everything she writes.
Can You Hear Me Now – Most Connected
This is a weird one, I guess I could just check who has the most followers but that wouldn’t really be a true reflection of being the most connected blogger. I think because of the way she helps people on a regular basis again I have to nominate V from grit and glamour. When you’ve been blogging for a while you start to see the same names floating about and they’ll pop up on various blogs. But once place I know I’ll see them all together is on grit and glamour.
If I had a Hammer – Best DIY
Makeupsavvy gets this award I don’t really come across many blogs that actually have any DIY aspect. But when I stumbled upon this blog I was actually really impressed with all the tutorials to do with nail art. Fee who is behind the site is really creative when it comes to nail art so anyone who is wanting something a little bit different then I’d highly recommend her site.
Tribe Leader – Blogger Who Leads Others and Brings Bloggers Together
Katy Rose from modly chic. I mean she comes up with a new set of questions every week and has hundreds of people joining in the Fashion Beauty Friend Friday event. There is also the google group where bloggers who are a part of FBFF can come together and discuss all things fashion/beauty blog related.
Practically Perfect – Most Fashionable
Laure from ravingfashionista gets my award for this category. She always looks fantastic and stylish and recently her photo shoots have started to become even more stylised yet still focused on the clothes which is something I applaud.
Paint By Numbers – Best Beauty Blogger
Again Fee from makeupsavvy gets the nod for this award as her site is the only beauty blog that I actually check out. To be honest I shouldn’t really have any business visiting a beauty blog, but I love the way she explores all aspects of the niche from tutorials, reviews even exposing companies that over exaggerate what their products are capable of.
Renaissance Woman – Best All Round Blogger, Fashion, Beauty, Lifestyle
I’ve been following this blog for probably as long as I’ve been running my own blog and I’ve seen it come on leaps and bounds. She features fashion, beauty and even how she sees the blogging community and the content is always honest and from the heart. So my entry for this award is Kim from Brunnetteblogging.
This was a great opportunity to share the love and also discover new blogs, it’s been fun seeing the entries popping up on twitter and hopefully you’ll have found some new blogs to check out too.
For those that are not familiar with it FBFF was started by modlychic to help fashion bloggers connect and share more about themselves. If you’re interested in joining you can find the post that kicked it all off here.
I now have a facebook fan page and would love it if you would join me there.

Yes! You bought into my secret evil scheme to trick everyone that I’m the real dealio! J/k:) Thanks for the nomination Mr. A. It’s way too much fun being me to bother being anything else. I’m actually quite silly, I just try to be stylish while being silly!
I’m looking forward to checking out some of the blogs you mentioned that I haven’t seen yet. Thanks!
Thanks for commenting and you’re totally welcome. It looks like I have fallen for your evil scheme ha ha. Yeah definitely check out some of the other blogs I highly recommend them.
Thanks for the nomination! I’m thinking next year we have to make sure to do a best male fashion blogger category. I’m bummed I neglected to include that this year. – Katy
You’re welcome

you’re totally welcome I’m glad it put a smile on your face
Thank you SO much Arash! This is amazing. There are so many wonderful bloggers less than a year old out there so I am thrilled and honored that you would choose me. Thank you
(PS: I just want to clarify that I’ve been blogging for years but The-Loudmouth.com is under a year old, and the first public blog I’ve ever had. Hope that still counts!)
Ha Ha that’s cool, you’re welcome
Wow, thank you so much for this “award”! I’m very flattered
I love this series, it’s nice to show your fellow bloggers some love!
You’re welcome Kim
I sadly have to say that I don’t know most of these bloggers! Ah! I do read G&G when I can, though and V is fantastic. She is sort of an aspirational blogger for me. So talented!
I really want to get on this whole Friend Friday thing. It’s such a cool idea! I am going to look into it as soon as I can.
I am catching up on your blogs! I have been so MIA on the blogging circuit for weeeeeeks now. Apologies. Keep up the awesome content!
J
Thanks Jenna, I keep seeing you posting up all the links on the blogs you’re working on so I know you’re a busy bee. Defo check out FBFF!
THANKS so much for this Arash!!! truly humble and honoured that you would mention me. About the category, being creative is something I’ve been told many times, and it’s just that I’m super lazy and I guess that gets in the way of me being more productive. I know my thirst for creativity has made me get very bored of some well paid jobs that I felt didn’t juice me to the max…it makes me still lost and confused about what I want to do in life! but I’m getting there
A huuuuge hug from southern France, and I will be checking out the other sites you mention
Awww you totally deserve it Jessie. Wow I can’t believe you’ve moved to the south of France I hope you have settled in well.
oh no, I haven’t moved here, I wish!!! I love it here,it’s a gorgeous place, very peaceful and life takes on a completely different meaning here. I’m only going through as my boyfriend’s mother lives there. My man is moving to Algeria to work, and I will probably move to Malaga, south of Spain.
My grandma lives in Malaga it’s really nice. Ha Ha I just assumed you’d moved there ha ha.
Oh thank you so much for the two mentions! Really lovely.
Off to catch up on all your posts I have missed…been too busy blogging more that I haven’t been able to read as many blogs as I’d like!
