Friend Friday: I Blame Marvin Gaye

I’m back again for another Friend Friday you can check out my very first Friend Friday post my blog is bigger than yours if you missed it. I love being involved with this, partly because I’m lazy so I don’t have to come up with a post topic myself. But all jokes aside I love the online community that comes with joining in the posting ritual. I’m now following the #FBFF tag on twitter too, just for a heads up.
Anyway this weeks questions are focusing on what we all love, fashion and the habits we all have when it comes to getting dressed in the morning.
How do you determine what you wear that day?
Now don’t get me wrong I love fashion, but I am still male so I kind of flick in and out of two mindsets. One mindset is this chic, well polished gentlemen, the other is your typical lazy male. “But you encourage people to always be well dressed and turned out” I hear you say, very true. Let me shed a bit of light, what I wear is really determined by how my day is planned out. If I’m having a lazy day around the house playing xbox, drinking tea and blogging then I’ll probably pick up some comfy sweat pants and a hoody, although I have been know to pull a Marvin Gaye and just stay in my PJs all day. Trust me, you should all give it a go at least once.
Now if I’m actually going out then I’ll pick out something depending on the season, weather and how I’m feeling that day.
Do you plan outfits out in advance for a whole week, month, weekend?
Never, to be honest my time is limit and I prefer to just be spontaneous and decide to pull something out that morning. If I had the time then I may consider doing it for a week but that would be at a push. The only time I ignore this is when I’m going out on a night out partying. I do tend to plan my outfit in advance, maybe in the morning or a day before. When I do plan it though it’s usually in my own head I tend to visualise what look I want to go for.

My Wardrobe... I wish!
Do you have any specific way of tracking outfits and items already worn so you don’t repeat?
Not my everyday outfits, I try and keep my wardrobe to a limited number of pieces so everything works with one another. I much prefer it this way rather than having a wardrobe that is out of control. This means I don’t really do repeats on consecutive days, although it would never worry me if I did. When I was younger I used to get paranoid about wearing the same thing twice, especially if it was on a night out. Now I have a much more relaxed attitude, I mean, if it looks good why not wear it twice?
I do keep a look book for outfits that I wear on a night out, which is something I’ve found extremely useful. I used to put together outfits then 2 weeks later try and recreate the same outfit. It used to annoy me that I could never get the same look that I previously had. So I decided to make a look book, which I found to be a massively useful tool.
How do you discover new combinations of items in your closet?
This is something I feel I should probably work on and set aside time to go through my wardrobe. Generally I get inspiration for new combinations from people I see in the street, television, films, blogs anywhere really.
To streamline the process for 2011 what is the one new thing you can do cut down your dressing time?
I think I get ready quickly, well I like to think I do. But carrying on the from the previous post I think for 2011 I want to spend more time going through my wardrobe. Doing regular clear out sessions and also trying out new combinations. I know there are some pieces in my wardrobe that I’m aware of but I just don’t wear because they’re not easily accessible. Sorting out my wardrobe on a regular basis will allow me to wear more of my wardrobe and also work out new combinations that I’ve never worn before.
For those that are not familiar with it FBFF was started by modlychic to help fashion bloggers connect and share more about themselves. If you’re interested in joining you can find the post that kicked it all off here.
Do you have any style plans for 2011?

Great second post for FBFF. And I loved your answer to the first question. Glad to know you are a combination of well polished gentleman and lazy male! – Katy
I like what your saying about your own style. I think every man should keep that in his mind. Everytime i click on your profile pick i am amazed to. Im always curious to find out wich trousers are under them.. And wich bag your wearing.
Enjoy your weekend.
Ha! I love that you embrace both sides of you. It is so fun reading your perspective. I’m impressed you keep a lookbook too. For years I’d write down what I wore in my planner, but I quit when I started working from home a few years ago. Now I’m half home, half in an office, and I just wear what I want. It will be a repeat at some point, but I can usually remember what I wore last week. And if I can’t, it’s not likely anyone else can either!

I’m glad I read your blog today!! I’m having a clothing crisis right now, of how many clothes that I own I feel like I dotn have anything to wear!! So I’m so agreeing with sometimes you just have to dress down because you get tired of all the process of getting ready and mixing your clothes together

sometimes i do plan my outfit days before, but actually very rarely. what i wear on a day is depends on how i feel. sometimes i’m in the mood of wearing jeans, sometimes i can’t stand them out! so making plans too early is not working for me. however, if i wanna wear my new boots when i go out the next time, i’m thinking for sure how i can combine them! that’s also what i like about fashion, everyday you can make some changes!
You have a lookbook. wow. Im soo disorganised.
WOW I am really impressed Arash. You created a look book no less.
I think I’ll give it a try now that I consider 2011 to be the year of some major…..well planned wardrobe investments.
Look forward to hearing from you
