Attack of the Manflu

I had originally planned to write another style icons post this week on Tom Ford however I was struck down. I was struck down by an awful cold hence the title. I’d be over exaggerating by saying it was the flu but it was definitely one evil cold. Now I don’t recall having a cold last year, I put it down to eating healthy, this year it kind of snuck up on me. It started when I was at a christmas party and I started feeling cold, that is one thing I hate about colds. You get that aching limbs and shivering feeling. I ended up buying some lemsip blackcurrent flavour as that was the only thing that didn’t have caffeine in and I didn’t want to be up all night.

I used to hate those drinks but to be honest it didn’t taste that bad. I then stepped up my game in combating my cold with some max strength tablets, which seem to be doing the trick. I have another christmas party to attend tomorrow evening so fingers crossed I’ll be fully recovered by then.

While posting my manflu updates on twitter I got some weird remedies tweeted at me, what do you guys tend to take and have you been struck down with cold yet this winter?

    Hi Arash,

sorry to hear that you are feeling under the weather.
Keep taking the tablets, make sure you have plenty of fluids, and, home made soup is a great healthy option to help you on the road to recovery.

    Take care, Colette.

Hope you feel better! When I get a cold, nothing works for me. I was diagnosed with chronic allergies as a child, so basically colds for me are feeling like death warmed up for five days. Worse than the flu! I can’t sleep, eat or stop feeling light-headed. It’s just LOVELY. I wish I had some magic remedy for ya, but that I do not have. Rest up? :]

  3. Well, I don’t get manflu…as I’m a woman, but whenever I get a bad one the best thing is making sure I take some paracetamol as I go to bed. Also if I feel the cold, you know like the first symptoms, it is paracetamol before i go to bed and first thing with breakfast.

Last year I had a cold every 6 weeks as I worked with the public and caught everything, yuck! This year as I can’t work due to my injury I have managed to stay flu-free, but for for how long I wonder? As soon as I go somewhere nice and sunny for holiday it will strike, I’m sure.

Feel better Arash! Also, it is interesting to think that Tom Ford had some influence one way or the other on that Corine fiasco at French Vogue…just saying.

You arent the only one who is/was struckdown. I cant go outside cause im to scared my unending runny nose will get me in awkward situations haha. I like to drink green tea with lemon and honey. Helps for a sore throat and a runny nose! Helps you to breath a bit easier.

Hope you’re feeling better already! I don’t have any real remedies when I’m sick, I just try to eat a lot of fruit and healthy things and drink soup :) other than that, take medicine and curl up in bed :)

  7. Hope you are feeling better! I always make homemade chicken soup. Or I order hot-n-sour soup from my local Chinese joint.

  8. I hope you’re fully recovered! My manfriend is still trying to get over a similar manflu. He’s been cooped up with the humidifier and lots of tea and medicines and soup for over a week now. Although, when I made him go to the doctor last week, she said it was just a bad cold and he never got a fever so I’m starting to think he’s just milking it at this point to get out of all the family parties… hmmm… ;)

    Feel better!
