Sexy Knits: How to avoid boring knitwear this winter

I was flicking through my girlfriend’s copy of glamour the other day, yeah I tend to read women’s magazines from time time the fashion sections are far better than in men’s mags. Anyway, I kept seeing some really cool pieces of knitwear which got me thinking and searching round the net. When I think of knitwear I automatically conjure up images of cardigans and jumpers and that’s it. While it is crucial to have such classic pieces in your wardrobe you don’t always have to stick to these basics. You can venture further a field this winter and play with a few different knit wear pieces that are playful and sexy, they don’t always have to be safe and practical. Below are five different pieces you should consider that are far from your typical jumper.
The mini knit dress
Perfect for dressing up for a winter’s evening or wearing casually during the day, that’s the versatility of this piece. If you want to be bolder choose a brighter colour and team that short hemline with another of this season’s trends knee high socks to keep up that sex appeal.
Tunics
Tunics are super versatile, as you’ll usually be wearing something underneath like leggings or skinnys. You can have fun with the hem line and opt for an asymmetrical cut for an edgier appeal. This one sleeved Halston cashmere tunic looks elegant and sexy that ultra fem pink.
Waist coats
Ok, waistcoats aren’t really ‘sexy’ but they’re not the first thing that jumps to mind when you think knitwear. Keep them current and on trend by looking for ones that have extra detailing such as this Topshop knitted faux fur waistcoat.
Jumpers
Again, very predictable, but if you make sure you look for jumpers with extra detailing or that stray from traditional hems and neck lines then you’ll be keeping your knitwear fresh. This particular piece from asos doubles up a scooped neck with a curved hem, giving that little extra flash of flesh.
Knee High Socks
Knee high socks are every wear this season and they’re the perfect sexy knitted accessory. If you fancy getting your pins out this winter but want to avoid frost bite then knee high socks are a must. Who said you couldn’t be sexy and practical?

I love knitted clothing, keeps you nice and warm during winter. That knitted mini dress is super cute, would definitely wear that! The waistcoat is also pretty cool.

What an interesting take on knitwear.
To be honest, when I think of knitted pieces, I think warm of comfortable. The last thing on my mind would be how to keep it sexy! It’s nice to get a male’s perspective on women’s winter clothing.
My favorite of these pieces is the mini knit dress paired with the knee-high socks. Adorable!
Nice post!!
Great ideas! I love the minidress and the tall socks. I think it’s definitely a look I’ll be playing with this winter!

I love knitted dresses, not just mini-dresses even though those ruuullee. The 20s and 30s (and subsequent inspired styles) featured lots of about knee length knitted dresses with lower waistlines and flattering necklines. They are more appropriate to wear than a mini dress if you are in more conservative settings. really want perfect super light weight knit knee socks too
Knitted over-the-knee socks are the perfect layering tool. And you’re spot on about knit jumpers; a predictable piece, but both the details and how it is worn make the difference.
Love the asos dress, it’s confortable and stylish, I prefer dark colours on me.
Very interesting take on knitwear!

Awesome choices here! I particularly like the mini-dress and waist coat. The first is pretty and sweet, and I love the detailing on the second. I also like the jumper, but I’m not so sure about the flash of skin at the midsection…haha…
Also, over-the-knee cable knit socks? So cozy. Simply divine.

The words ‘sexy’ and ‘knitwear’ don’t usually go together (bit of an oxymoron!) but this great post highlights that you can be warm, comfortable, and still feel attractive! It’s so tempting when the chills bites to just throw on my boyfriend’s big jumpers (sweaters if you’re American!!) so thanks for the inspiration.
