Spring Summer 2011 Fashion Weeks Round Up

I was browsing through various shows from each of the fashion weeks that have past. I still have to say I think in general I usually prefer the winter shows, however I have selected my favourites that I personally like. If you think I’ve missed one of your favourites off my list then let us know which it is and what you liked about it in the comments section below. There were some stunning pieces and looks in many of the shows but as a complete collection the ones that follow were definitely my favourite.

Nows a good time to start looking and maybe spotting some themes and trends that will be big for next spring summer. I’ll be doing a trend guide after christmas, if you want to know what to wear for this year’s colder months then you can go back and check out the ladies autumn winter 2010 trend guide we did a while ago.

Gucci

Gucci kicked off milan fashion week with a bang, I love the fact Frida Giannini used blocked bold colours as opposed to prints that I’ve seen a lot for spring/summer 2011 especially with the likes of Prada and Marni. The jewel colours were gorgeously strong, there was a slight nod to the 80’s with drop crotched trousers and long glossy blazers. There was also a nice safari feel to some of the nudey/gold pieces with a hint of tribal with fringing and feathers added into the mix.

DSquared2

Probably one of my favourite shows from the spring summer 2011 collections. Dean and Dan Caten embraced the geek chic look for their collection. The looks flowed effortlessly all with a touch of masculinity, from preppy tomboyish looks with handkerchiefs tucked into pockets to sequinned adorned miniskirts finished with oxfords with socks. I think they nailed both the casual day time and evening wear in this collection perfectly.

Emilio Pucci

I know what you’re thinking, if you’re not a fan of prints why pick Pucci? Well I didn’t think the prints were super in your face or anything. I also loved the boho Ibizan girl look that Peter Dundas went for with this collection. It really reminded me of a very summery care free collection, which I loved.

Lanvin

There is no doubting Alber Elbaz is a genius and although this season’s show lacked a bit of the romance usually associated with the label, the result, although more serious, was still full of pieces women will lust for. From skin hugging tops to beautifully pleated chiffon skirts to neons and nudes all of spring summer’s trends were covered.

Yves Saint Laurent

Stefano Pilati captured both glamour and practicality in this collection there were real clothes that an everyday person could wear as well as the usual sexy, glamourous pieces. Yet they were still signature YSL, chiffon blouses, silk jumpsuits and stunningly tailored sleeveless blazers

Burberry

I already mentioned that I was fan of the Burberry collection in a post I did a while ago. I just loved the jacket with huge gold studs and the snake print dresses with hints of neon. If you were saving for an aviator jacket for this season you may want to hold fire until you have checked these beauties out.

I am surprised you didn’t pick any smaller designers. Did any London designers stand out to you?

I liked a lot more but just featured my favourites. Which collections did you like? I’m usually a fan of Christopher Kane but didn’t like his collection this season. Thought Giles Deacon’s was quite vibrant and different. Mary Katrantzou’s dresses are always fabulous check out her show if you’ve not seen her before.

Hi Arash, fantastic images!!! I must say out of the Designers that you have picked out I really love the Collections from Lanvin and Dsquared, I would love to wear a more girly style like Pucci but I must admit I have a slight fear of prints especially floral ones because if you get it right …… fantastic!! but knowing me i’d end up looking like a flower power hippie reject lol.

Okay, so I pretty much agree with all your picks, here!…I loved Gucci. It felt fresh and retro at the same time, which is hard to pull off but I think Frida did it. And that first look you showed from Lanvin may have been my favorite of the whole season. Divine. I pretty much always love what Stefano Pilati puts out on the runway, always chic. And I also loved Michael Kors this season…well, I have actually been loving him for several seasons now. His laid-back, breezy, cool vibe is amazing to me. Great post.
