How to find the Perfect Fit

I was doing a bit of research recently trying to find out common style problems that everyday women generally face. According to cosmopolitan readers their biggest style headache is finding the right fitting clothes, there were a whole host of fit related issues, from trousers that were baggy on the bum to dresses that make you look out of proportion. We already did a feature on how to find the right jeans, so if you’re still having denim nightmares, you can breath easy just head on over that feature.
You’ve been shopping, get home and stand in front of the mirror admiring your new purchase, when that new dress fits you perfectly there’s no doubt that you don’t feel sexy and confident. But that’s not always the case, we’re going to go through a few steps you can take to make sure every piece in your wardrobe fits you perfectly.

When is a size 12 not a size 12? Or any size for that matter? It would seem like common sense but it’s so important to try on anything before you buy it. Take a few different sizes as sizes vary dramatically from brand to brand. They can even vary in the same brand, so a size 10 trousers may not fit the same in a pair of jeans. If you have a variety of sizes you can take your time and find which fits the best.
While we’re on the topic of sizes, please don’t get too hung up on numbers. Remember sizes vary so if you have to go up a size from your usual size, don’t panic. You’ll feel much more comfortable in something that fits you well rather than trying to squeeze into a smaller size.
Also so, you should make sure you’re wearing the correct underwear as this will give you a good base to work on. If you want a smooth line for when wearing dresses then I’d recommend investing in some spanx. I admit, they’re not the most sexy underwear but they are a sound investment for when you need that perfect silhouette.
Find a good tailor or alterations store, let’s face it a lot of the clothes you buy off the peg are not going to fit you perfectly. When shopping or looking for something new try and budget in any alterations you may need. As you and I know everyone has a different body shape thats why it can be so difficult when the clothes you buy don’t take this into consideration. Not all size 10’s are built the same and the same goes for every other size, so having a few extra adjustments will not only give you a better fit but also a custom piece.
